Leeds Bradford Airport eyes European expansion

As it bids to extend its network of flights across the continent, Leeds-Bradford Airport will be represented at the Routes Europe 2009 conference in Prague this week. Attracting more than 650 delegates including up to 75 airlines and 200 airport representatives, Routes Europe is the largest networking event for the aviation industry in Europe. Tony Hallwood, Leeds-Bradford Airport commercial director will be attending the event in Prague Airport and meeting with a number of low-cost and scheduled airlines to encourage new service launches at the Yorkshire airport. He will focus his attentions on regions of Scandinavia, Germany and Switzerland. 'With strong support from the business community across the Yorkshire region, we are already stimulating significant interest in what Leeds, Bradford and the wider Yorkshire region can offer to a range of European airlines,' said Mr Hallwood. 'We are confident that the first results of our determined efforts in Prague to secure more routes will be announced later this year,' he added. Leeds-Bradford Airport currently flies to a number of European destinations that includes connections to Amsterdam, Brussels, Barcelona and Paris.
