Dubai Airports is preparing for a staggered transfer of the Dubai-based airline Emirates' operations to Dubai International Airport's Terminal 3 in October. The new Terminal 3 will be dedicated to Emirates operations. The opening will get underway from 14th October and will comprise four phases, each designed to make sure all systems and processes are operating efficiently. The new Terminal 3 has been tested to ensure that it is ready to open its doors to passengers. An operational test involving over 2,000 volunteers in August was one of the rigorous trials the facility had to pass. President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum said that the opening of Terminal 3 represents a 'much-needed expansion' of Dubai's aviation infrastructure. Chief executive of Dubai Airports Paul Griffiths added: 'Raising customer service standards at Dubai International is at the heart of our strategy. 'We want to make absolutely sure that all the systems and processes at Terminal 3 are working smoothly and that customers experience nothing short of world-class facilities and service when they use the new terminal. ' The opening of Dubai International Airport's Terminal 3 is set to increase the total capacity of the United Arab Emirates facility to around 60 million passengers annually.
