A number of new self-service check-in facilities have opened at Edinburgh Airport for Air France, Flybe and KLM passengers. Airport operator BAA has installed the ten new kiosks to increase check-in capacity at Edinburgh Airport and so speed up travellers' movement through the terminal. Under the new system, customers will present a passport barcode and credit card or transaction number at the machine as proof of their identity before their boarding pass is printed out. Only Air France and KLM passengers are currently able to use the self check-in kiosks, although Flybe customers will also be able to use them later this month. Flybe's chief commercial officer Mike Rutter said that he was 'especially pleased' that Flybe's passengers will be able to use the self-service kiosks because the airline will be operating some 310 flights every week from Edinburgh Airport this winter season. Mr Rutter added: '[The kiosks] undoubtedly save passengers valuable time at check-in, offering a much more streamlined customer experience that will prove especially popular with Flybe's connecting passengers. ' In 2008 so far, nine million passengers have passed through Edinburgh airport, while no less than 27 new services have been launched by airlines operating from the airport.
