Multilingual technology comes to Luton Airport

London Luton Airport has introduced a 'state of the art' multilingual passenger communication system. The Aviavox facility has the ability to make announcements in nine different languages and is linked to dissemination of information about the airport's flight departure schedule. The Aviavox system broadcasts important information in a relevant language to the nationalities of travellers, and varies in different areas of the airport. This multilingual technology has provided particularly useful security messages that increase the speed of passengers' progress through the airport. Glyn Jones, London Luton's managing director said: 'Our customers are at the heart of everything we do. 'London Luton Airport continually assesses the needs of its passengers and business partners and aims to provide the best possible service to them. The introduction of this fantastic new system for our passengers demonstrates our commitment to this. ' Airlines including Flybe and Aer Arann fly from London Luton airport to short-haul destinations such as Amsterdam, Edinburgh and Nice. Flying Abroad comment: Luton Airport is supposed to be, and to our knowledge still is, a silent airport where announcements for flights departing are only displayed on the screens around the departure lounge, and not over the tannoy system. So how this will work to 'broadcast' in nine languages we aren't too sure.
