Additional Buenos Aires flights from Heathrow

Friday 10 Oct 2008 10:32am

British Airways has announced that it will increase the frequency of the flight service it offers from London's Heathrow Airport to the capital of Argentina, Buenos Aires. From 26 October, three new flights a week will be added, making the service from London Heathrow to Buenos Aires daily. All of these flights will make a stop en route in Sao Paulo, Brazil. In further plans for expansion in the winter schedule, the UK flagship airline will introduce a new service operating three times weekly between Heathrow and the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro. A Boeing 747 will be operating on the Buenos Aires flights, offering four separate classes of service. A Boeing 777 will operate on the new Rio de Janeiro route with two classes of service. Both additional flight operations to Brazil will be run in direct competition to rival airline TAM's current flight operations. TAM is planning to upgrade its Brazilian route aircraft from its MD11 aircraft to Boeing 777s. BA's increased Argentina service will see competition from Aerolineas Argentinas, although Argentine tourism officials are welcoming the increases in flights because they will bring additional tourism to the country. 'We are delighted that BA is satisfying the demand,' a London-based spokesperson for Argentina's Tourist Board said. 'But we believe that there is far greater potential. '
