Vueling cancels A320 orders

Thursday 18 Oct 2007 11:58am

As reported on this site recently, Spanish airline Vueling have had a difficult year with strong competition from other low-cost airlines (including easyJet and Ryanair) in the Spanish market and also increases fuel costs as a result of crude oil prices rising. In a statement today,Vueling announced that they have cancelled an order for three Airbus A320 aircraft, and at the same time postponing delivery of six other aircraft by a year so that they are delivered in 2009 rather than 2008. This announcement will obviously affect Vueling fleet size in 2008, which will have an affect on the number of routes they will be able to offer without these additional aircraft. In an additional statement from the airline, they announced a 1. 35 million Euro profit for Q3 2007.
