Business class airline Silverjet that flies from London to New York and London to Dubai has suspended all its flights. The airline announced earlier this year that it had received investment funding and loans - which from an announcement last week has failed to materialise. Silverjet has from this morning formally announced that all flights from 30th May onwards are suspended. The airline has advised passengers who hold tickets for journeys not yet made (either entire journeys or just return flights) to make their own plans. Silverjet's founder, Laurence Hunt, has personally apologised to passengers who checked in at Luton this morning. One of the passengers on the flight said 'He was looking very disappointed which must have been an understatement of how he was feeling'. In other airline related news this week, analysts have estimated that the cost of fuel alone for a London to New York flight was £44,000 - up from £28,000 a year ago. Since the start of the year several other business-class airlines have become bankrupt including Maxjet and EOS airlines. With the price of oil and fuel having doubled in the last 12 months, we/FlyingAbroad. co. uk anticipate more airlines going out of business before the end of the year.
