Irish budget airline Ryanair has started to sell cruises operated by new partner Costa Cruises on its website after striking a new deal. Fifty of Ryanair's current 820 routes service cities in close proximity to ports where Costa operates cruises around the Mediterranean and Northern Europe. Such cities include Venice, Barcelona, Marseille, Palermo and Civitavecchia. Costa Cruises spokesperson, Angelo Capurro, commented that the company believes the three-year Ryanair deal will help appeal to younger customers. Mr Capurro said: 'This agreement enables us to further extend our potential customer base by reaching a type of traveller that regularly uses the web channel, namely professionals aged between 25 and 45'. Mr Capurro went on to add that the deal complimented Costa's recent 22 million Euro investment in its services: 'This strategy is very much in line with our large-scale fleet expansion program, with five new ships due to enter service, three of which to be delivered over the next twelve months. ' Costa Cruises, an Italian cruise line, served some 1. 2 million passengers last year, and has set an ambitious target to serve 1. 5 million passengers by the end of 2009. Both Ryanair and Costa are offering £100 on-board credits for passengers to use on Costa cruises if they make bookings with Ryanair before 16 March.
