Business class only flights are on the up with several airlines introducing these type of flights - and the demand for the service looks to be increasing all across the world. Singapore Airlines has announced that it will convert all five Airbus A340 long-haul planes to a business class only configuration and offer daily flights from Singapore to New York and also Singapore to Los Angeles in the United States. The planes are normally configured with 181 seats (with a mixture of first, business and mainly economy seats), but this would be changed to 100 business class seats. Each seat will have direct access to the aisle (with a 1-2-1 layout), the seats will convert into a fully flat bed, they will be in leather and 30 inches wide. A Singapore AIrlines spokesman said [quote] The new Business Class is being very well-received by our customers on long-range flights. The new product is the perfect fit for the ultra-long-haul services between Singapore and the USA. The peak demand for the non-stop flights is from our Business Class customers, and this change will expand Business Class capacity from 64 to 100 seats on each flight". The new service will be gradually introduced from Mid-May with the first aircraft being converted - with the remaining four being converted by late-September 2008. Singapore Airlines flies over 46 flights a week from Singapore in Asia to the USA - with Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York being the main destinations. In March next month, the airline will start a four times a week services from Singapore to Houston via Moscow. Singapore Airlines has also recently taken delivery of its second Airbus A380 superjumbo plane which is due into service later this year.
