Midlands airport, Coventry has welcomed its first flight from Gdansk in Poland. A new three times a week service will operate from Coventry to Gdansk by Wizz Air. The West Midlands has a large and growing Polish community and demand for the route looks high. Coventry Airport's Chief Executive Officer said [quote] "We are delighted that Wizz Air is complementing its existing services to Katowice with the introduction of new flights to the important Polish commercial centre of Gdansk. The West Midlands region has strong historical links with Poland and these new flights are great news for the Polish community, business and leisure travellers". Coventry Airport is progressing with its legal challenge to building a new terminal at the airport. The initial planning application was refused at the airport has launched a legal challenge to overturn the decision. The hearing has been brought forward to 21st July 2008.
