From 18 September 2007, Easyjet will resume flights with a twice per day service from Luton to Zurich. Three years ago, Easyjet stopped their Luton to Zurich flights blaming the high costs of operating from Zurich - which has some of the highest landing fees in the world. Instead it started operating from Basel in the north of Switzerland instead. An Easyjet spokesman said that although the operating costs are still quite high, there is still a high demand for the route (especially as Swiss airline Helvetic stopped the Luton to Zurich route in October 2006) - and this high demand, yields are good. Zurich is an important banking and business centre, and there is capitve business market. The resumption of this route means that Easyjet now fly to three destinations in Switzerland - Geneva, Basel/Basle and Zurich.
