First there was one, now there are more in the skies as Singapore Airlines takes delivery of its fifth A380 superjumbo planes. At present, not all flights between London's busy Heathrow airport and Singapore are using the A380 superjumbo (some are still using Boeing 747 aircraft), but this newly delivered aircraft gives the airline more scope to upgrade more of its flights to use the new double-decker super jumbo Airbus A380. From July 16th, Flights on alternate days of Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sundays will see the A380 used on the late-evening flight from London to Singapore. The only exception to this is between August 2nd and August 8th when Singapore Airlines will be diverting all its A380s to Beijing to handle demand from the 2008 Olympic Games. With seating for over 400 people, first class cabins with double beds, luxurious business and premier classes and spacious ecomony classed, the A380 is also more fuel efficient and better for the environment than other existing planes and helps to keep carbon emissions down while also carrying more passengers. Singapore Airlines also flies A380 super jumbos on the Singapore to Sydney, Australia route.
