From 26th October, Aer Lingus will resume flights between Newcastle and Dublin with a service running five times a week between the two cities. The head of Newcastle airport is extremely pleased that Aer Lingus have resumed the flights as the airport is very popular with business and leisure travellers and also football fans. A spokesman for Aer Lingus said [quote] 'We are delighted to recommence direct flights between Newcastle and Dublin, offering customers from the north-east a gateway to Ireland and Irish customers greater access to the north-east of England. ' Dublin has proved a popular destination from the north-east of England, but with Aer Lingus in the past having suspended the Newcastle to Dublin service, passengers wanting to fly had to travel to other airports. Dublin is the biggest city in Ireland and have a wealth of attractions for tourists. The Guiness storehouse, Dublin Castle, Trinity College and Temple Bar are all popular places to visit. Dublin is also a popular destination for Hen and Stag weekends.
