The Belgian business airline, VLM Airlines, has announced that it intends to augment its services between the UK and the Netherlands. Starting from January 5th 2009, VLM, which is part of the Air France-KLM group, will run eight return flights between London City Airport and Rotterdam. The airline plans to station an additional aircraft in Rotterdam for the operation of charter flights. As of January 12th, VLM will also replace CityJet, another member of the Air France-KLM group, on a connection from Eindhoven to London, operating two flights on the route daily. VLM may also become a member of Air France-KLM's frequent flyer programme, Flying Blue. This is a move which could offer further benefits to regular business travellers to and from the Netherlands. Next month, CityJet will take over a route previously operated by VLM and KLM Cityhopper between Amsterdam and London City Airport, in a bid to further enhance the group's services for customers. Managing director of VLM Airlines Johan Vanneste, said: 'We are very pleased to see that the takeover of our company has a positive effect for our customers. 'The AVRO RJ-85 aircraft on the Amsterdam - London City route will offer superior comfort to our passengers, whilst the Flying Blue frequent flyer programme will offer all our customers a loyalty program with excellent reward possibilities.
