A number of airlines have just announced plans for expansion, in spite of the ongoing financial crisis. CityJet is to begin operating flights from London City Airport to Amsterdam from January 5th, while VLM also plans to run new routes from the London airport to the Dutch cities of Rotterdam and Eindhoven from January 12th. Kingfisher Airways has announced that it will commence a new service from London's Heathrow Airport to Mumbai from January 5th. The new service will be the second international route operated by Kingfisher, following the launch of its Heathrow to Bangalore flights in September this year. Europe's largest regional airline, Flybe, has announced the launch of a new Gatwick to Newquay flight, from February 15th, although it plans to cut its existing Norwich to Dublin route the following month. Scandinavian budget airline, Norwegian Air Shuttle, is set to launch a new twice-daily service between London Gatwick Airport and Copenhagen from March 29th. Virgin Atlantic plans to expand its transatlantic services from Manchester Airport to Barbados and Orlando, and from Gatwick Airport to Montego Bay from May 2nd. Virgin will also resume its twice-weekly Heathrow to Mauritius service will on November 13th, 2009. Qatar Airways has also launched a number of connecting flights from Doha to the Seychelles, for passengers arriving on flights from Britain.
