Scandinavian based SAS has revamped the premium-economy class on its long haul flights. Premium-economy, or "Economy Extra" as its known on SAS flights, is a step-up from economy class, but not to the level of business class and not anywhere to the level of first class. In the new improved class provides flyers with a greatly improved menu, a dedicated crew, bigger seats, priority boarding, fast-track security and a larger baggage allowance. The menu will provide a wide range of starters, main courses and desserts - all made form improved ingredients - and also a large second meal - which on other airlines and long haul flights is normally a snack. The CEO of SAS said [quote] "Economy Extra is a unique selling point for SAS and is a service class that attracts both business travellers and leisure travellers wanting an alternative to economy," commented Lars Sandahl Sorensen, chief executive of SAS. " SAS has recently announced that it wil be introducing biometric testing at Stockholm Airport which will capture fingerprints during check-in and verify these on boarding the plane.
