Thursday 03 Dec 2009 5:48pm

European airline Danubewings will start operating flights from Luton Airport this week. The airline will run three flights a week to Poprad in Slovakia from December 1, using a Boeing 737. Passengers have been promised low fares. The new Luton to Poprad flights can be booked now on the carrier's website. Luton Airport's airline manager, Simon Harley, said that he was delighted at Danubewings' arrival. Mr Harley commented: 'Low-fare flying continues to make business and leisure travel increasingly accessible to millions of Europeans and the launch of this new service to Poprad provides yet more choice. ' Poprad is a popular destination for skiing and walking holidays in the north of Slovakia because it is close to the High Tatras mountains. Luton Airport served 10. 2 million passengers in 2008, making it one of the busiest airports in the UK.
