Budget airline Ryanair has announced plans to expand its services from Brussels from spring next year. The expansion will see Ryanair base one of its new Boeing 737-800 aircraft at Charleroi Airport from March 31st next year. Ryanair confirmed that the new aircraft will operate three new routes: three weekly return flights to Barcelona and Bratislava, as well as a twice-weekly service to Trieste. In a company statement, it was claimed that the expansion was decided after the Belgian government abandoned plans for a proposed €10 (£8. 50) tax on air passengers. A Ryanair spokesman, Michael Crawley, said: 'Thanks to the Belgian government's decision to listen to the concerns of the business community, the tourism industry, airports and airlines the people of Brussels are celebrating the arrival of a sixth based aircraft and three exciting new routes which go on sale today. ' Ryanair also recently announced a new winter flight schedule, which will see daily flights from Barcelona Girona in north east Spain to Gatwick Airport from December 18th.
