Scarcely any late sales are expected for the summer 2010 season and the Thomas Cook travel group announced 'good progress' in trading. Increased sales over the last few weeks have produced an improvement in the cumulative booking position throughout each of our primary markets. Sales for summer holiday bookings have increased by 30% in the last month showing substantial growth with capacity levels ahead of what was projected. 54% of Thomas Cook's summer capacity has been sold and there is 5%less to sell for the current season then there was for the same time period last year. For May, there is 17% less left to be sold. For June, the amount left for sale is 10% less. Average sales pricing stayed at 2% more than last year. There has been a shift from the long haul at a higher price to the medium haul, which is priced lower, but has a better margin. Last year's trading level has been surpassed by independent businesses. Reports say Hotels4U bookings rose to 90% and Gold Medal Netflights are at 40%. Bed is generally in line with last year. Last winter's programme is 91% sold.
