Dubai-based airline Emirates recently marked the first anniversary of its in-flight mobile service, which was first introduced on a flight from Dubai to Casablanca on March 20 last year. Over 160,000 travellers from over 130 countries have used the in-flight mobile service during its inaugural year, with more than 50,000 passengers taking advantage of the service in the last three months as the facility has become more widely available. The AeroMobile system has now been installed on 32 planes in Emirates' fleet, giving an availability of one in four of Emirates flights. Vice president of passenger communications for Emirates, Patrick Brannelly, said: 'Using this innovative service has now become second nature to our passengers who love the convenience of being able to stay in touch when they choose to. 'It has proved as popular with passengers on all flights to all destinations, not just businessmen and women but also leisure travellers. It's ideal for just wanting to call home or make contact with family on birthdays or anniversaries. ' Bjorn-Taale Sandberg, AeroMobile chief executive, commented that the in-flight technology company was expecting a further increase in the usage of its service over the coming year. In other news, Emirates also recently announced the addition of the Oscar-winning British film ‘Slumdog Millionaire' to its in-flight entertainment options. ‘Slumdog Millionaire' joins Emirates' existing movies such as ‘Australia', ‘Quantum of Solace' and ‘Changeling'.
