Bmi have created a dedicated check-in at Heathrow's terminal 1 for business class travellers. Using this new facility on the main concourse allows business ticket holders to check in as little as 30 minutes before departure, and still be able to board their flights. A Bmi spokesman said [quote] 'Part of our core customer offering is a quick and smooth experience through the airport and our new Premium Check-in will help to ensure we deliver on this commitment. 'The new area offers a fast track route for business class customers using our 30 minute check-in promise and also provides a spacious and relaxing area where families or larger groups can check-in at a more leisurely pace. ' Heathrow has in the last 12 months seen a reorganisation with the opening of British Airway's Terminal 5 in spring 2008, and other airlines changing terminals. Consequently Heathrow's Terminal 1 now only handles 14 million passengers a year - down from 23 million at its peak. This reduction has helped to reduce delays and provide a better experience for passengers.
