Barbados tourism promotions exceeded all expectations

The Barbados Tourism Authority has announced that the new Gourmet Card and VIP Card promotions that it launched are proving popular with holidaymakers to the country. VIP Card holders will be eligible for buy one get one free promotions on vehicle rental and various activities based around Barbados between April and December this year. The Gourmet Card guarantees discounts of up to 25 per cent on meals at selected restaurants across Barbados and will be valid for the same period as the VIP card. Vice president of marketing in Europe for the Barbados Tourism Authority, Petra Roach, said: 'We are thrilled at the worldwide interest we have received in the Gourmet Card, which has exceeded all our expectations. 'It has clearly been one of our most successful initiatives yet with applicants from as far away as Canada, Australia, Africa and Brazil registering for the card in addition to the applications coming in from Europe. ' According to Ms Roach, similar interest has been shown in the VIP Card. Barbados' tourism industry enjoyed an extra boost in 2008 when the website ‘Totally Barbados' scooped the World Travel Award for being the Caribbean's leading travel information website.
