Starting from 20th April, Virgin Atlantic will start flying a second daily flights between London's Heathrow airport to Washington Dulles airport in the USA. The service will run initially from 20th April to 25th October - leavings London to 17. 30 and arriving in Washington at 20:55 (local times). On its return, it will leave Washington at 23:10 and arrive back in London Heathrow at 11:35 (local times). Demand for transatlantic routes is expected to increase due to the Open Skies agreement that allows any airline to fly across the Atlantic Ocean. Increased competition on routes normally results in a better deal for passengers as airlines compete for business by lowering costs. With the long distance of transatlantic flights and rising oil/fuel costs, its not expected that prices will drop dramatically, but increasing competition normally means cheaper flights and more choice for passengers.
