In a recent survey by Barclay Card Business, 59% of business travellers said that they didn't want airlines to allow mobile phones to be used on planes - even if there was zero risk from the mobile phones. More women than men didn't want mobiles to be used on flights. For those not wanting mobiles to be used, eople said they wanted their travel time as a time to relax, and not have interruptions from noisy passengers on mobiles. Having to listen to the person next to them was a major concern expressed by many. From those that did express an interest in being able to use their mobile, being interrupted or overheard were high on their list of on concerns. Ryanair says that it plans to allow mobile phones on planes later this year - although the airline is waiting for clearance from European regulatory bodies. A spokesman from Ryanair said that rates for calls made onboard would be lower than those calls from phones in the back of existing business class seats - and he also said that calls would not be probibitively expensive. Ryanair is expected to take a cut of any calls made on board. Several other airlines including Air France, BMI and Emirates are also awaiting clearance to allow mobile phones to be used on their flights.
