You are here: Home / News / Second airline ends flights from Cardiff
In june 2007, Air Southwest will end daily flights from Cardiff to Newquay and Manchester. This news comes a day after First Choice announced they will end flights from Cardiff in 2008. The Air Southwest flights are being stopped as traffic numbers were lower than anticipated when the routes from Cardiff were Launched. A spokesman from Cardiff Airport has said that a replacement airline is being sought - and stated that the Cardiff to Manchester route had regular passengers - an indicated that there was a market for the route and that another airline would come forward to fill the gap in the market. With an increase in airlines offering flights from many regional airports, including many of the smaller ones, several airlines do seem to be closing down their bases at some regional airports such as Flybe recently announcing closure of their Bristol Airport base.
