Bangalore is also known as Bengaluru and is in southern India, in the state of Karnataka of which it is the capital. It is also the third most populated city in India, with around 6.5 million inhabitants. Although you could expect a very tropical climate in Bangalore, it is actually very temperate, with April being the hottest month, when the temperature is around 34 celsius. The winters are also quite mild, with January being the coldest month, although even then the temperature does not really fall much below 15 celsius. The summer months may be very wet though, with thunderstorms being quite frequent.
Bangalore has much to offer the traveller, since it is often called the Garden City of India due to the fact that it is a very green city and has a plethora of parks. It is also a rival to Bollywood, with the Kannada film industry located here. In addition it is a really important place for classical Indian music and dance, which is reflected in the number of recitals, concerts and dance shows, which are regularly performed here. Cricket is a national institution in Bangalore, with the M Chinnaswamy Stadium being the home of cricket here and it is well worth a visit. Food in Bangalore is very diverse and there is literally food available almost everywhere. Tea stalls are also very popular and there is some great regional cuisine on offer throughout, which is mostly vegetarian. Travelling to Bangalore is very straightforward with direct flights from London operated by British Airways and other change over flights offered by Air France or Lufthansa.
